The term Nerd refers to a type of person who passionately pursues odd or intellectual activities, esoteric knowledge or other odd and obscure interests rather than engaging in more social or popular activities.
It used to be a label that many viewed as having a derogatory connotation or meaning. Now, being a nerd is something to be proud of and embrace.
Being a nerd is more popular now than ever before. So are movies about nerds.
There are few character types in modern films that can entertain an entire audience quite like the role of a nerd can. Almost everyone can relate to a nerd in some form or another.
Over the years, many directors have attempted to create their version of the ultimate nerd movie. Maybe that’s because many directors, like Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and John Hughes, were nerds themselves.
